Luton Borough Council
Air Quality
The main source of air pollution in Luton is from road transport.
All councils are required by law to monitor air quality in their area. We have a monitoring site near to Junction 11 of the M1 motorway. The information gathered tells us if we are meeting air quality objectives set by the government. Members of the public can also view the information to see what air quality is like in the town.
What air pollutants does the council monitor?
